Due to the global pandemic outbreak, our second season and all other DROOM events have been suspended until further notice.
A Note from Shemar:
I wish I were writing this letter under more certain circumstances. As much as we all were looking forward to all the amazing work and events we have planned to share for Season 2, the team and I have decided that it is best to suspend our upcoming season until further notice. In times like these we are tested as a community to continue to practice unity and kindness. Even though we are all practicing social distancing, it is still important to connect with one another. Many of us are affected in various ways by COVID-19. DROOM recognizes that many artists and creatives are faced with emergency expenses and situations in the wake of our present circumstance. We are working to find ways to support our artistic communities and to connect virtually. There are many organizations who have resources to assist and we have gathered a list of a few local organizations. Feel free to take a look if you need help locating assistance.
In addition, DROOM is developing a temporary donation based artist emergency fund to assist applicants with emergency funds. We would greatly appreciate any donation amount to help aid individuals. More information can be found on our DROOM Artist Emergency Fund webpage. Also, with all the quarantining happening we know creating can be stifled, so we have created the Quarantine and Create Livestream Contest. Creatives and artists can sign up to participate for a chance to win a cash prize and a set to perform in our Quarantine and Create Livestream Concert on April 10th. I'm really excited about this contest & livestream because it will allow us to continue in our goal of connecting and supporting our artistic communities, but it also creates positivity around all the negativity. More information can be found on our Quarantine and Create webpage.
I don't know what the future holds, however, I believe in the power of optimism and hope. And with those two things, anything is possible. We will continue to monitor the status of COVID-19, and will work to reschedule programming for sometime later in the year. As we continue to learn how to navigate our new normal, I hope you all are staying safe and healthy.
We are all stronger together!
